Job Description

Overview

St Martin's College is seeking to recruit a reliable and responsible Sports Facilities Attendant to join our Premises team on a part-time basis.

The successful candidate will support the smooth running of the school’s sports facilities, ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all users during evening and weekend operations.

Reporting to: Premises Senior Leader

Working Hours:

• Monday to Friday: 30 hours per week 

Key Responsibilities:

Security & Access

• Opening and closing all school gates and access points, including main entrances, sports facilities, and administrative areas 

• Ensuring the premises are secure at all times during and after operating hours 

Sports Facilities Operations

• Checking bookings and managing customer access to facilities 

• Providing a high level of customer service and clear communication with all users 

• Preparing and maintaining sports equipment (e.g. footballs, basketballs), ensuring availability and proper collection after use 

• Inspecting pitches, courts, and gym areas to ensure they are clean, safe, and fit for use 

• Ensuring all goalposts and equipment meet safety standards 

• Enforcing house rules and maintaining order within sports areas 

• Reporting any damages or issues promptly 

• Keeping storage areas clean, organised, and well maintained 

• Acting as Fire Marshal when required and supporting emergency procedures 

• Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at all times 

Housekeeping

• Cleaning gym toilets and shower facilities (male and female) 

• Cleaning additional restroom facilities on site 

• Emptying bins around sports areas 

• Sweeping external areas, including ramps and canteen surroundings 

• Maintaining cleanliness of drains and storage areas 

Maintenance Support

• Watering plants around the school perimeter (seasonal: April–October) 

• Assisting with minor maintenance tasks as directed by the Premises team

• Be dependable, proactive, and able to work independently 

• Have good communication and interpersonal skills 

• Take pride in maintaining clean, safe, and well-organised environments 

• Demonstrate a strong awareness of health and safety practices 

• Be flexible and willing to support a range of operational tasks
